A 12ft trampoline measures 366cm across — generous space for three or four children, comfortable for adults, and big enough to still suit a teenager who's grown out of everything else. It's the size most families choose when the garden can take it.

Will it fit your garden?

A 12ft needs 2m of clearance all round:

• Minimum: 8m × 8m
• Comfortable: 10m × 12m

Measure your flattest area rather than the whole garden. If that area is 10m × 10m or more, 12ft works well. If it's closer to 8m × 10m, an 11ft will sit better and still feel enormous to a child.

11ft, 12ft or 14ft?

Choose 12ft if the garden is 10m × 12m or better, you have three or four children, or you're buying for children who'll still be using it as teenagers. Choose 11ft if the space is tighter, you have one or two children, or they're under eight and don't need the extra room yet.

Above ground or sunken?

Above ground, a 12ft frame stands 80-90cm tall. That's a substantial structure in a suburban garden.

InGround drops the mat to 20cm above the lawn, which cuts the visual bulk and takes most of the wind out of it — worth thinking about at this size on an exposed site. FlatGround sits completely flush for the cleanest finish.

Staying above ground? Fit the anchor kit. A 12ft frame catches a lot of wind and Irish storms will find it.

Safety and use

Weight capacity runs 180-250kg depending on model — realistically three or four children supervised, or two teenagers. Adults are comfortable on a 12ft.

Even with this much room, one jumper at a time remains the safest rule. Most trampoline injuries happen when several children bounce together, because the heavier jumper transfers energy to the lighter one. If more than one is on it, keep them similar in size and keep an eye on them.

Assembly

Allow five to six hours with two adults — a 12ft is substantial and it's not a solo job. Frame life is 15-20 years, with mats, nets and padding typically 5-12 years depending on exposure. We can put you in touch with installers across Ireland if you'd rather not do it yourself.
