The honest comparison: InGround gets you most of the benefit — low profile, short fall, no ladder — with a shallower pit, a narrower hole and more tolerance for ground that isn't perfectly level. FlatGround gets you the last 20cm and a finish nothing else matches. If appearance is the reason you're buying, that 20cm is the whole point. If it isn't, InGround is the easier project.

Why flush

• It disappears. No frame visible from ground level. In a landscaped garden that's the entire argument.
• Zero fall height. Stepping off the mat is stepping onto the lawn.
• Nothing to trip over. Everything is below the surface, so the garden stays usable around it.
• Walk on from any side. No ladder, no climbing — which suits small children and anyone less mobile.
• Nothing for the wind. A flush trampoline presents no profile at all. On an exposed or coastal site it's the most stable installation BERG makes, and it needs no anchoring.

Sizes and what they need

Two metres of clear space on all sides, plus the pit itself. The hole matches the frame diameter exactly — unlike InGround, where you dig inside the trampoline's footprint.

Those soil volumes are worth reading before you commit. A 14ft means removing around 9 cubic metres, and the 16 × 10ft rectangular around 10 — that's a digger and a skip, not a weekend with a spade.

Safety net

Net availability varies by model and size on FlatGround. Some take a Deluxe or Deluxe XL; some don't take one at all. Tell us which size you're considering and we'll confirm before you order.

It matters if children will use it. A flush installation removes the fall height — leaving the mat means stepping onto grass. But a net does a second job it can't: keeping jumpers on the mat in the first place. If a net is essential to you, check availability before you choose a size, or look at InGround, which takes a net across the range.

Champion and Elite share springs, mat and padding thickness. Elite adds heavier frame tubing and more than double the padding warranty — worth it on a flush installation, where the padding is the part you'll be looking at.

Installation

The hole dimensions for each size are in the table above.

We don't carry out installations ourselves, but we work with experienced installers across Ireland who do this regularly. Tell us your county when you order and we'll put you in touch with someone local who can look at the site and quote you.

Ground conditions vary a lot across Ireland, so it's worth having someone assess your site rather than working from a general guide. Your installer will advise on what your particular ground needs.

Common questions

Do I need planning permission?

Generally no — a trampoline isn't a permanent structure in planning terms, and a flush one is the least visible option there is. Check with your council if you're in a protected area.

Can I install it on a slope?

Not realistically. A flush trampoline needs a level surface, and levelling a slope means terracing. InGround is more forgiving here.

Can I move it later?

No. Treat it as permanent and choose the position carefully.

Do I need to anchor it?

No. The pit holds the frame and there's no profile for the wind to catch. It's the most stable installation BERG makes, which is why it suits coastal and exposed sites.

What happens when it rains?

Water passes through the perforated mat and out through the drainage below. That's why the drainage design matters more here than on any other installation — it's the one thing to get right at the outset.

Is it safe without a net?

Fall height is effectively zero, so leaving the mat means stepping onto grass. But nothing stops a jumper going sideways off the edge. We'd recommend supervision for younger children on a netless model, and we wouldn't recommend it where young children have unsupervised access.

FlatGround or InGround?

FlatGround for the finish, on a level well-drained site. InGround for a shallower pit, a narrower hole, more tolerance of imperfect ground, and a net across the range.
