Springfree O47 Compact Oval — 6ft × 9ft

The smallest oval Springfree makes, and the model for gardens that are long rather than square. Same springless construction as the rest of the range — no springs, no hard frame edge, nothing at the mat edge for a child to land on.

Will it fit your garden?

Springfree specifies 9ft × 12ft — about 2.7m × 3.7m — for the O47, including clearance.

That's the smallest footprint of any Springfree apart from the Mini Round, and the shape is the point. A lot of Irish back gardens are narrow strips rather than squares — a side passage, a terraced garden, a space between a patio and a boundary wall. An oval uses that shape where a round trampoline wastes it.

Measure the flattest clear rectangle you have, and check both dimensions rather than just the longer one.

Specifications

Model O47 (Compact Oval)
Jumping mat 6ft × 9ft
Jumping surface area 47 sq ft
Space required 9ft × 12ft
Tested maximum load 600kg
Height with enclosure 7ft 7in
Warranty 10 years, all parts

Springfree rates the 47 sq ft jumping surface as comparable to an 8ft × 11ft spring trampoline, because a spring model loses a band around the outside to springs and padding that this doesn't have.

Oval or round?

It comes down to the shape of your garden, not the trampoline. Oval mats suit a space that's longer than it is wide. Round mats suit a square.

If you have a square 12ft × 12ft, the R30 Mini Round fits it and gives 30 sq ft. The O47 needs 9ft × 12ft and gives 47 sq ft — half as much jumping area again, in a narrower space. Where your garden allows either, the oval is the better trampoline.

Stepping up, the O77 Medium Oval needs 11ft × 14ft for 77 sq ft, and the O92 Large Oval needs 11ft × 16ft for 92 sq ft. Both are worth a look if you have the length — the extra width requirement is small.

Who it suits

Younger children, and gardens where nothing bigger fits. The low 7ft 7in profile makes it easy for small children to get on and off, and less imposing in a small space than a full-height enclosure.

Older children will outgrow the mat area before they outgrow the trampoline itself. If yours are already eight or nine, look at the O77 or the R79 Medium Round instead.

What makes it a Springfree

  • Flexible composite mat rods instead of springs, beneath the mat and out of reach. No pinch points for small toes, and individually replaceable.
  • SoftEdge mat extending to the edge of the jumping area. Springfree rates it as 30 times more shock-absorbent than conventional safety padding.
  • Hidden galvanised steel frame, below and outside the jumping surface.
  • FlexiNet enclosure with flexible poles that cushion rather than stop, fitted inside the mat edge.
  • 10-year warranty on all parts, not just the frame.

Springfree's own claim is that the design eliminates 90% of product-related trampoline injuries.

Assembly and siting

Springfree's free BILT app gives 3D step-by-step instructions with voice guidance, which is much easier to follow than the paper manual at the rod-fitting stage.

Set it on level ground — our guide to levelling a Springfree on uneven ground covers the options if your lawn slopes. On an exposed site, fit ground anchors; a lighter trampoline moves more easily in wind, not less.

Common questions

Is an oval as good as a round?

For a given jumping area, yes — same rods, same mat, same net. The difference is purely the footprint. Ovals exist because gardens aren't square.

Can two children use it?

One at a time is the safe rule on any trampoline, and more so on a smaller mat. Most injuries happen with multiple jumpers, because the heavier one transfers energy to the lighter one.

How long will children get out of it?

It's built around younger jumpers. For a three or four-year-old it'll do years of service. For a seven or eight-year-old, look at a larger model — they'll find 6ft × 9ft tight sooner than you'd like.

Can I leave it out over winter?

Yes, it's made for year-round outdoor use. Keep leaves and standing water off the mat, and see our winter care guide if you'd rather pack it away.

What's the model code for parts?

O47. Note it somewhere — Springfree parts are model-specific and it's the first thing we'll ask for.

Not sure whether an oval or a round suits your garden? Send us the dimensions of your flattest clear area and the ages of the children, and we'll tell you which fits and which they'll still be using in five years.
