Sizes and the space they need

Two metres of clear space on all sides, so the ground you need is the frame plus 4 metres in each direction. With an oval, check the width as well as the length — it's usually the width that runs out.

Size Frame Clear space needed Max user Springs Suits
Small Oval 350 × 250cm (11.5 × 8.2ft) 7.5m × 6.5m 110kg 80 2-3 children, ages 6-12
Medium Oval 470 × 310cm (15.5 × 10ft) 8.7m × 7.1m 120kg 112 3-4 children, teenagers
Large Oval 520 × 345cm (17 × 11.4ft) 9.2m × 7.5m 120kg 144 4+ children, serious jumpers, adults

Measure your flattest clear area and check both dimensions. Send us the figures and we'll tell you honestly which fits. Full detail in our trampoline size guide.

Oval or round?

It's about shape, not size. An oval and a round of comparable area give you much the same amount of mat — what differs is the ground each one needs.

Grand Champion 470 × 310 Champion 12.5ft round
Jumping area 11.4m² 11.3m²
Space needed 8.7m × 7.1m 8m × 8m
Width required 7.1m 8m
Longest run 4.7m 3.8m

Take the oval if your usable garden is longer than it is wide. Nearly a metre less width for the same jumping area, and a metre more length to bounce along. A lot of Irish gardens are strips rather than squares, and that's where an oval earns its place.

Take the round if your space is closer to square, or you want a smaller size — round runs from 11ft, oval starts at 350 × 250cm.

The bounce also differs slightly. On a round the springs pull inward from every direction, so you're always returned toward the centre. On an oval they run closer to parallel along the length, so the energy stays nearer where you land and the full length of the mat is usable. More control, and a bit more height for the same effort.

Champion specification

TwinSpring springs

A V-shaped double spring arrangement rather than single springs, spreading load around the frame. Smoother bounce, more usable mat, and a longer service life than a budget trampoline's spring ring. Covered for 5 years and individually replaceable.

AirFlow Pro jump mat

Perforated, so displaced air escapes as you land rather than fighting you. Two useful side effects in Ireland: it dries faster after rain, and wind passes through rather than pushing against it. UV-stabilised with heavy-duty stitching.

30mm padding

30mm over the frame, 20mm over the springs, 38cm wide, in 0.55mm PVC. A third wider and considerably heavier material than the Favorit's. Replaceable.

Galvanised steel frame

Hot-dip galvanised inside and out, then powder-coated black over that. Two layers of protection, and the basis of the 13-year rust warranty.

Safety net: Deluxe or Deluxe XL

  • Deluxe — 180cm, curved poles positioned outside the jumping area so nobody can hit them, self-closing entrance rather than a zip. Right for children up to about 14.
  • Deluxe XL — 210cm, around 30cm taller. Worth it for teenagers who get real height, or anyone practising tricks.

Both attach every 15cm around the frame and carry a 2-year warranty. The oval models use a custom oval net.

Anchor it the day you build it

An above-ground oval stands 95-105cm off the lawn with a net on top, and at 5 metres long the largest is a substantial structure. In Irish wind that's a sail, and weight is not what holds it down.

Fit ground anchors as soon as it's assembled and check them after every named storm. If you'll be moving it to mow, the 4-pack with straps unclips in seconds. Our anchoring guide covers every surface.

Worth knowing: storm damage to an unanchored trampoline isn't covered by the warranty.

Assembly

Two to three hours with two adults on the smaller sizes, longer on the 520. All tools are in the box, the BERG manual is good, and there are QR codes to video guides.

Lay the frame sections out in the oval before you start — the long and short axes make it easier to visualise than a round. Work opposite sides when fitting the springs so the mat stays centred, and a spring puller tool turns the spring ring into the quickest part rather than the longest.

Ring us mid-assembly if you get stuck. We can also put you in touch with installers across Ireland if you'd rather it was done for you.

Worth adding

  • Ladder — at 95-105cm, children will otherwise climb the padding to get on, which wears it where it protects the frame. These sizes take the Ladder L.
  • BERG Levels game — LED lights and app challenges in the mat. The long oval suits the running-based games better than a round does.
  • TwinHoop basketball — twin adjustable hoops on the net poles. Needs a Deluxe or Deluxe XL net.
  • Oval weather cover — custom fit. Worth it if there are trees overhead or it's idle from November to March; most people don't bother, and that's a reasonable call.

See all trampoline accessories, or the replacement parts range.

Maintenance

  • Weekly: clear debris, check the anchor straps are tight
  • Monthly: spring tension, padding condition, tighten loose bolts, check net attachment points
  • Seasonally: clean the mat, inspect the net for tears, re-tension the anchors
  • Annually: full bolt check, inspect every spring, check mat stitching and net pole security
  • Winter: brush heavy snow off gently, check anchors after storms. The net stays up — BERG rates it for winter.

Looked after, expect 12-15 years. Mats, nets, springs and padding are all replaceable.

Warranty

Frame 13 years with registration (10 without)
Springs 5 years
Jump mat 2 years
Padding 2 years
Safety net 2 years
Accessories 2 years

Registering adds three years to the frame warranty — it's free and takes five minutes. Ring us if you can't find your batch number and we'll dig it out.

Not covered: storm damage to an unanchored trampoline, damage from exceeding the weight limit or having several people on it, neglect, or accidents.

Claims are handled by us here in Ireland — genuine BERG parts, no international delays. More in our BERG warranty guide.

Safety

Always: adult supervision for under-12s, one person on the mat at a time, bare feet or trampoline socks, nothing sharp in pockets, a dry mat, 2m clearance all round and clear space overhead, anchors fitted.

Never: somersaults without coaching, use in high wind, jumping on a wet mat, more than the rated user weight for your size, pets on the mat, or jumping off the edge.

One at a time is the rule that matters most. Most trampoline injuries happen with several people on the mat, because a heavier jumper transfers energy to a lighter one.

By age: not recommended under six — the Champion produces more power than a young child needs, and the Favorit range suits them better. Six to ten is ideal with supervision. Ten and up is where the Grand Champion comes into its own, and adults are well served up to the rated weight.

Frequently asked questions

Does the oval give more jumping area than a round?

No — a 470 × 310 oval and a 12.5ft round are within a tenth of a square metre of each other. The oval's advantage is that it needs nearly a metre less width for the same area, and gives you a metre more length to bounce along.

Will my garden fit it?

Check the width first, it's usually what runs out. The Small Oval needs 6.5m across, the Medium 7.1m, the Large 7.5m. A long garden that's only 6m wide won't take any of them with proper clearance, and we'd tell you so rather than sell you one.

Above ground or InGround?

Above ground if you want it up this weekend, you're renting or might move, or you'd rather not excavate. InGround if this is a permanent home or the site is exposed — a 17ft frame on legs catches a lot of wind.

Do I really need the anchor kit?

Yes, and more so at this size. Storm damage to an unanchored trampoline isn't covered by the warranty.

Can I assemble it myself?

Most people do. Two adults, two to three hours on the smaller sizes, all tools provided. The spring ring is the awkward part and a spring puller makes short work of it.

Can adults use it?

Yes — 110kg per person on the Small Oval, 120kg on the two larger. One at a time.

Deluxe or Deluxe XL net?

Deluxe is genuinely good and fine for children up to about 14. Take the XL if there are teenagers who get real height, or anyone practising tricks.
