Where Elite sits in the BERG range

Elite is the top of BERG's residential range, above Champion and Favorit. The clearest difference is the padding warranty:

Padding is the component that takes the weather, and Elite's carries two and a half times the cover Champion's does. That's the practical difference between the ranges.

Sizes and the space they need

Two metres of clear space on all sides, so the ground you need is the diameter plus 4 metres.

The hole is narrower than the frame — the legs rest on ground at the rim, so you dig inside the trampoline's footprint.

Measure your flattest clear area and subtract 4 metres from each dimension. This matters more than usual with an inground trampoline, because the pit is permanent. Send us your measurements and we'll confirm which fits. Full detail in our size guide.

Three configurations

The InGround models come three ways, and it's worth deciding this before you choose a size — switching later means buying a complete net system.

Sport Mode — no net

The frame and mat only, sitting 10-20cm above the lawn. Nothing to look at from across the garden and you can walk on from any angle.

The honest position: fall height is very low, so leaving the mat means stepping onto grass rather than dropping a metre. But a net does a second job it can't — it keeps jumpers on the mat in the first place. We'd only recommend Sport Mode where the users are confident teenagers and adults, and not where young children have access.

Deluxe net — 180cm

Curved poles positioned outside the jumping area so nobody can hit them, self-closing entrance rather than a zip that breaks or gets left open, UV-resistant mesh, 2-year warranty. Right for children up to about 14, and the configuration most families choose.

Deluxe XL net — 210cm

Everything in the Deluxe, 30cm taller. Worth it for teenagers who get real height, or anyone practising tricks.

If you're unsure, take a net. It's easier to have protection you don't need than to add it afterwards.

Why inground

• Shorter fall. 10-20cm to the grass rather than a metre. The single biggest safety difference between inground and above ground.
• Far less wind load. A low frame gives an Atlantic gale very little to catch, which is why it's the usual choice on exposed and coastal sites. It rarely needs anchoring.
• Easy access. A step rather than a climb, from any side. No ladder needed, and small children can get on unaided.
• It doesn't dominate the garden. Garden furniture can sit near the edge, and it reads as a feature rather than equipment.

Against FlatGround, which sits completely flush, InGround needs a shallower pit. Against above ground, it's permanent — that's the trade.

Elite specification

TwinSpring springs

A V-shaped double spring arrangement rather than single springs, spreading load around the frame. Smoother bounce, more usable mat, and a longer service life. Covered for 5 years and individually replaceable.

AirFlow Pro jump mat

Perforated, so displaced air escapes as you land rather than fighting you. It also dries faster after rain and lets wind pass through rather than pushing against it. UV-stabilised with reinforced stitching.

Padding — 5-year warranty

30mm over the frame, 20mm over the springs, 38cm wide, in 0.55mm PVC with enhanced UV treatment. Same 30mm thickness and 38cm width as Champion. What Elite adds is a heavier frame and a 5-year padding warranty against Champion's 2 — BERG's own judgement on how much longer it lasts.

Galvanised steel frame

Hot-dip galvanised inside and out, powder-coated black over that. Two layers of protection, and the basis of the 13-year rust warranty. That matters here — the frame spends its life below ground level.

Installation

An inground trampoline needs a pit dug to the dimensions in the table above.

We don't carry out installations ourselves, but we work with experienced installers across Ireland who do this regularly. Tell us your county when you order and we'll put you in touch with someone local who can look at the site and quote you.

Ground conditions vary a lot across Ireland, so it's worth having someone assess your site rather than working from a general guide. Your installer will advise on what your particular ground needs.

Worth adding

• TwinHoop basketball — twin adjustable hoops on the net poles, about twenty minutes to fit. Needs a Deluxe or Deluxe XL net, so it's not an option on Sport Mode.
• BERG Levels game — LED lights and app challenges in the mat.
• Ladder — less essential than on an above-ground model, but it stops children climbing the padding to get on.
• Weather cover — most inground owners don't use one and that's a reasonable call. Worth it if there are trees overhead or it's idle from November to March.

Maintenance

• Weekly: clear debris, and check for water pooling in the pit
• Monthly: spring tension, padding condition, tighten loose bolts, check net attachments
• Seasonally: clean the mat, inspect the net for tears, check the frame
• Annually: full bolt check, inspect every spring, check mat stitching
• Winter: brush heavy snow off gently. The net stays up — BERG rates it for winter.

Looked after, expect 12-15 years. Mats, nets, springs and padding are all replaceable.

Registering adds three years to the frame warranty — free, five minutes. Ring us if you can't find your batch number and we'll dig it out.

Safety

Always: adult supervision for under-12s, one person on the mat at a time, bare feet or trampoline socks, nothing sharp in pockets, a dry mat, 2m clearance all round.

Never: somersaults without coaching, use in high wind, jumping on a wet mat, more than the rated user weight for your size, pets on the mat, or jumping off the edge.

One at a time is the rule that matters most. Most trampoline injuries happen with several people on the mat, because a heavier jumper transfers energy to a lighter one.

On Sport Mode specifically: the low fall height removes the worst outcome, not the need to watch. We wouldn't recommend it for children under 13.

Frequently asked questions

Which configuration should I choose?

Deluxe net for families with children aged 6 to 14. Deluxe XL for teenagers or anyone doing tricks. Sport Mode only where the users are confident adults and teenagers and no young children have access. If you want the TwinHoop basketball, you need a net — it can't be fitted to Sport Mode.

Can I add a net later?

You'd be buying the complete net system rather than an add-on, and fitting it afterwards is more involved. Worth deciding properly at the outset.

How does Elite compare to Champion?

Elite is the step up. Same 13-year frame warranty, 5-year springs, AirFlow Pro mat and 30mm padding. Elite uses heavier frame tubing and covers the padding for 5 years against Champion's 2 — padding being the part that takes the weather.

InGround or above ground?

InGround for a permanent home, a garden where looks matter, an exposed site, or younger children. Above ground if you're renting, might move, or would rather not excavate.

Do I need to anchor it?

Generally no — the pit holds the frame, which is one of the real advantages over an above-ground model. On a very exposed coastal or hilltop site it's worth doing anyway.

Can adults use it?

Yes — 100kg on the 11ft, 110kg on the 12.5ft, 120kg on the 14ft. One at a time.

Will it rust?

Hot-dip galvanised inside and out with powder coating over that, and a 13-year warranty covering rust.
