Padding is the component that takes the weather. Elite's is the same thickness as Champion's — 30mm over the frame, 20mm over the springs, 38cm wide in 0.55mm PVC — with enhanced UV treatment and two and a half times the warranty cover. That's BERG's own judgement on how much longer it lasts.

Sizes and the space they need

Two metres of clear space on all sides. Check the width as well as the length — with an oval it's usually the width that runs out.

The hole is narrower than the frame — the legs rest on ground at the rim, so you dig inside the trampoline's footprint.

BERG publishes the user weight for the 520 × 345cm Elite oval. Ring us for the two smaller sizes and we'll confirm before you order.

Oval or round?

It's about shape, not size. An oval and a round of comparable area give much the same amount of mat — what differs is the ground each needs.

A 470 × 310cm oval needs 7.1m of width. A 12.5ft round needs 8m for near-identical jumping area. If your usable garden is a strip rather than a square, that metre is the difference between fitting and not.

The bounce differs slightly too. On a round the springs pull inward from every direction, returning you to the centre. On an oval they run closer to parallel along the length, so energy stays nearer where you land and the full length of the mat is usable.

Take the round if your space is closer to square, or you want a smaller size — round starts at 11ft.

Why inground

• Shorter fall. 10-20cm to the grass rather than a metre.
• Far less wind load. A low frame gives an Atlantic gale very little to catch, which matters on a frame this size. It rarely needs anchoring.
• Easy access. A step rather than a climb, from any side. No ladder needed.
• It doesn't dominate the garden. Garden furniture can sit near the edge.

Against FlatGround, which sits completely flush, InGround needs a shallower pit and a narrower hole. Against above ground, it's permanent — that's the trade.

Elite specification

TwinSpring springs

A V-shaped double spring arrangement rather than single springs, spreading load around the frame. Smoother bounce, more usable mat, and a longer service life. Covered for 5 years and individually replaceable.

AirFlow Pro jump mat

Perforated, so displaced air escapes as you land rather than fighting you. It also dries faster after rain and lets wind pass through rather than pushing against it. UV-stabilised with reinforced stitching.

Padding — 5-year warranty

30mm over the frame, 20mm over the springs, 38cm wide, in 0.55mm PVC with enhanced UV treatment. Same 30mm thickness and 38cm width as Champion, and the same AirFlow Pro mat and TwinSpring springs. What Elite adds is a heavier frame and a 5-year padding warranty against Champion's 2.

Galvanised steel frame

Large-diameter, thick-walled tubing, hot-dip galvanised with a black powder coat over it. Two layers of protection, and the basis of the 13-year rust warranty.

Installation

The hole dimensions for each size are in the table above.

We don't carry out installations ourselves, but we work with experienced installers across Ireland who do this regularly. Tell us your county when you order and we'll put you in touch with someone local who can look at the site and quote you.

Ground conditions vary a lot across Ireland, so it's worth having someone assess your site rather than working from a general guide.

Maintenance

• Weekly: clear debris, check for water pooling in the pit
• Monthly: spring tension, padding condition, tighten loose bolts
• Seasonally: clean the mat, inspect the net for tears, check the frame
• Annually: full bolt check, inspect every spring, check mat stitching

Expect 15 years or more in Irish conditions. Mats, nets, springs and padding are all replaceable.

Common questions

Does the oval give more jumping area than a round?

No — they're within a fraction of each other at comparable sizes. The oval needs less width for the same area and gives more length to bounce along.

InGround or FlatGround?

InGround needs a shallower pit and a hole narrower than the frame, and it's more forgiving of ground that isn't perfectly level. FlatGround sits completely flush and needs a metre-deep pit the full width of the frame.

Do I need to anchor it?

Generally no — the pit holds the frame. On a very exposed coastal or hilltop site it's worth doing anyway.

Can I move it later?

Not realistically. Treat an inground trampoline as permanent and choose the position carefully.

How does Elite compare to Champion?

Same 13-year frame warranty, 5-year springs, AirFlow Pro mat and 30mm padding. Elite uses heavier frame tubing and carries a 5-year padding warranty against Champion's 2.
