BERG Champion FlatGround — Round
Round, completely flush. The frame is recessed entirely below the lawn so the jumping mat sits level with your grass. No step up, no visible frame, no ladder. Available 11ft, 12.5ft and 14ft.
It's the sleekest trampoline BERG makes, and the one that reads as part of the garden rather than something added to it.

Read this first: there's no safety net
BERG doesn't make a safety net for the FlatGround. That's the decision this page turns on, so it's worth being clear about what it means.
The design reduces the need for one. Fall height is effectively zero — leaving the mat means stepping onto your lawn. There's no frame to trip over and nothing hard at the edge.
But a net does two jobs, and this only removes one of them. A net catches a fall, and it also keeps jumpers on the mat in the first place. Without it, nothing stops a child bouncing sideways off the edge — they'll land on grass rather than a metre down, but they'll still land off the trampoline.
So it suits: older children, teenagers and adults; families who'll supervise; gardens where the trampoline isn't near a wall, patio or hard surface.
It doesn't suit: young children left to their own devices, or anyone who'd rather have the enclosure. If a net matters to you, the Champion InGround sits 10-20cm above the lawn, takes both net options, and needs a shallower pit.
Sizes and the space they need
Two metres of clear space on all sides, so the ground you need is the diameter plus 4 metres.

The hole matches the frame diameter exactly — unlike an InGround installation, where the hole is narrower. A 14ft FlatGround needs a 430cm hole a metre deep, which is around 9 cubic metres of soil to remove. Grass can be restored right up to the frame edge afterwards.
Why flush
- It disappears. No visible frame from ground level. In a landscaped garden that's the whole argument.
- Zero fall height. Stepping off the mat is stepping onto the lawn.
- Nothing to trip over. Everything is below the surface.
- Walk-on from any side. No ladder, no climbing, which suits younger children and anyone less mobile.
- Nothing for the wind. A flush trampoline presents no profile at all. On an exposed or coastal site this is the most stable installation BERG offers, and it needs no anchoring.
What Champion specification means
TwinSpring springs
A V-shaped double spring arrangement rather than single springs, spreading load around the frame. Smoother bounce, more usable mat, longer service life. Covered for 5 years and individually replaceable.
AirFlow Pro jump mat
Perforated, so displaced air escapes as you land. It also lets rainwater through rather than pooling on the surface, which matters more on a flush installation than any other.
Galvanised steel frame
Hot-dip galvanised inside and out, powder-coated black over that. Two layers of protection, and the basis of the 13-year rust warranty. That matters here: the frame spends its whole life below ground level.
30mm padding
30mm over the frame, 20mm over the springs, 38cm wide, in 0.55mm PVC. Two-year warranty, replaceable.
Installation — the part to get right
A 100cm pit the full width of the frame, level to a fine tolerance, with proper drainage. This is a flush installation, and it's not the one to improvise.
Drainage matters. Irish clay doesn't drain freely, and a metre-deep pit without drainage fills after heavy rain — at which point the frame sits in water and the trampoline is unusable. The mat lets water through; the pit has to let it out.
Level matters more than on any other installation. A flush trampoline that isn't level looks wrong and tensions unevenly, and correcting it means lifting the frame.
Professional installation covers site assessment, excavation, drainage, levelling, assembly and testing — typically one to two days. We work with installers across Ireland; tell us your county and we'll give you a name and a price.
DIY is feasible for someone confident with groundworks and drainage, with a digger and two to three days. We provide the manual, Irish soil guidance and phone support. If you're unsure, this is the model to pay someone for.

Safety
Supervision matters more here than on a netted trampoline, particularly for children under ten. The low fall height removes the worst outcome, not the need to watch.
One person at a time. Most trampoline injuries happen with several people on the mat, because a heavier jumper transfers energy to a lighter one. Without a net, a mistimed bounce also puts someone off the edge.
Stay toward the centre, and leave somersaults and tricks to experienced jumpers.
Weight limit is 100kg per person on the 11ft and 12.5ft, and 120kg on the 14ft.
Maintenance
- Weekly: clear debris, and check for standing water — that's your early warning on drainage
- Monthly: spring tension, padding condition, drainage clear
- Annually: tighten all bolts, inspect the frame, check the mat stitching
- Winter: clear snow, keep the drainage running through freeze-thaw
Expect 10-15 years in Irish conditions. Mats, springs and padding are all replaceable.

Frequently asked questions
Do I need planning permission?
Generally no — a trampoline isn't a permanent structure in planning terms, and a flush one is the least visible option there is. Check with your council if you're in a protected area, and allow a sensible distance from the boundary.
Can I install it in clay soil?
Yes, but the drainage becomes the critical part rather than an optional one — perforated pipe to a working outlet, not just gravel. At a metre deep in clay we'd strongly recommend professional installation.
What if my water table is high?
It makes a 90cm pit considerably harder, and in extreme cases needs a sump. It's also the main reason to consider the InGround instead, where the pit is 75cm rather than 100cm and narrower than the frame. Get the site assessed.
Can I install it on a slope?
Not realistically. A flush trampoline needs a level surface, and levelling a slope means terracing.
Can I move it later?
No. Treat it as permanent — moving it means a new pit and a new drainage system. Choose the position carefully.
What happens when it rains?
Water passes through the perforated mat, down through the gravel base and out through the drainage pipe. If it's pooling on the mat or standing in the pit, the drainage isn't working and that needs addressing before it damages anything.
Can I install it on decking?
No — soil or earth only.
Can adults use it?
Yes. Many families choose a flush installation specifically so parents can use it too, and the walk-on access makes that easier than climbing a ladder.
