Rectangular, inground. The Ultim Favorit sunk into a pit so the mat sits 20cm above your lawn. A rectangular frame fits a long narrow garden where a round one won't, and the inground installation takes the bulk out of it entirely.

The hole is narrower than the frame — the legs rest on ground at the rim, so you dig inside the trampoline's footprint. BERG's weight table lists the 280 × 190cm at 70kg and the 410 × 250cm at 120kg; confirm the 330 × 220cm figure with us before ordering.
How to measure: you need 2 metres of clear space on every side, so add 4 metres to each dimension of the frame — not 2. Check both directions: the width catches people out more often than the length. Full detail in our trampoline size guide, or send us your measurements and we'll confirm the fit.
Why rectangular?
Two reasons, and they're different from each other.
Shape. A lot of Irish gardens are strips — a row house with a long narrow plot, or a side garden running along a boundary. A rectangular mat uses that ground where a circle wastes the corners. The 7 × 11ft needs 6.2m across; a round trampoline with similar mat area needs over 7m.
Bounce. On a round frame the springs pull inward from every direction, so the bounce returns you toward the centre. On a rectangle they run closer to parallel and the energy stays where you land — more usable mat, more control, and more height for the same effort. It's why competition trampolines are rectangular.
The trade-off: more power means less margin. For children under about six, the forgiving bounce of a round Favorit is the better buy, and it comes in five sizes rather than three.
Why inground
- Wind. A rectangular frame presents more surface to a gale than a round one of similar footprint. Above ground it must be anchored; sunk into the ground there's very little for the wind to catch.
- Fall height. 20cm to the grass rather than a metre.
- Access. A step rather than a ladder, from any side.
- Appearance. A 13ft rectangle on legs is a structure. Sunk into the lawn it reads as a feature, and garden furniture can sit near the edge.
Colour options
Green
The classic BERG colour, and the one that disappears into a lawn.
Grey
Neutral and modern. The usual choice on the rectangular models.
MOST POPULARBlack
The sleekest of the three, popular on newer estates.
All three use identical materials and UV protection. Choose on looks alone.
With or without the safety net
Available both ways. If children will use it, buy it with the BERG Comfort Safety Net — and more so on a rectangular model, which produces more height than a round. The no-net option is for adult or closely supervised use, and a net can be added later.
Installation
BERG publishes exact pit dimensions for each model and we'll send you the drawing. A rectangular pit is more straightforward to set out than a bowl — straight sides, square corners — but it has to be square, or the frame won't tension evenly.
Drainage decides whether it works. Irish clay doesn't drain freely, and a pit without drainage fills after heavy rain — at which point the mat sits over standing water and the trampoline is unusable for weeks. A gravel base is the minimum; on clay or a wet site you need perforated pipe to a soakaway. Corners hold water more readily than a bowl does, so plan the falls.
DIY is feasible with a mini-digger if your soil drains. Otherwise we work with installers across Ireland — tell us your county and we'll give you a name. More in our BERG InGround installation guide.
