A swing frame built like a trampoline. Powder-coated steel in 90mm round tube, double-coated against Irish weather, in an A-frame that doesn't creep across the lawn when two children get going on it. Black, so it sits alongside the BERG inground trampolines and the PlayBase rather than shouting at them.

And like the PlayBase, you decide what hangs off it. A click system lets you swap swing seats for a trapeze, gym rings, a disc swing or a nest swing — so the frame outlasts each stage instead of being outgrown along with the child.

Which size? Count the attachment points

Size here isn't really about the garden. It's about how many things can hang off the frame at once, and therefore how many children can use it at the same time.

All three are the same height and width — 225cm wide, 248cm tall. Only the length changes. So if headroom or width is your constraint, every size fits the same; if length is tight, that's what decides it.

Two children and one swing is a bad afternoon. If you've two who'll both want a go, the Medium is the honest answer even where the Small would fit. The step up between sizes is modest next to the cost of getting it wrong and buying again.

Installation

• No concrete. The frame anchors into the ground at 50cm depth. BERG's own instruction is that you need a spade and a spirit level, nothing more.
• Leave 35cm minimum clearance beneath the seat.
• Level ground matters more than perfect ground. Get the base flat and the A-frame does the rest.

Warranty

Five years on the frame as standard, extended to eight years if you register the product with BERG online after purchase. Registration is free and takes a couple of minutes — we'll send you the link with your order.

The attachments are sold separately

Worth being straight about this: the frame ships on its own. Swing seats, trapeze, gym rings, disc swing and nest swing are bought separately — which is what makes the click system worth having. You buy the ones your children will actually use, and change them later rather than paying for a fixed set.

The range covers a standard swing seat, a baby seat, gym rings, a trapeze, a disc swing and a nest swing — so one frame serves a toddler and a ten-year-old, just with different things hanging off it. We'll stock the range alongside the frames; Irish prices to be confirmed.

Swing, PlayBase or PlayTower?

We stock all three, so here's the honest version.

The Swing does one thing properly and takes the least room. If what your children actually want is to swing, this is the sensible buy and the cheapest route to BERG build quality.

The PlayBase (from €999) is the modular one — climbing, swinging, monkey bars, a slide, all off one frame. More garden, more money, more to grow into.

The PlayTower adds a raised platform, a slide and a sandpit underneath. The one for younger children who want somewhere that's theirs.
