BERG Ultim Champion FlatGround — Rectangular
Rectangular, completely flush. In BERG's naming Ultim means rectangular, so this is the competition-shape frame recessed entirely below the lawn. The mat sits level with your grass — no step, no visible frame, no ladder.
It's the combination for someone who wants rectangular bounce and doesn't want a trampoline visible in the garden at all.
- Rectangular frame with parallel spring arrangement
- TwinSpring springs
- AirFlow Pro perforated jump mat
- 30mm padding
- 13-year frame warranty
- Free delivery on orders over €300
Safety net: depends on the size
This matters more than anything else on the page, so it's worth getting straight before you choose a size.
| Size | Safety net |
|---|---|
| 330 × 220cm (7 × 11ft) | Not available |
| 410 × 250cm (13 × 8ft) | Available |
| 500 × 300cm (16 × 10ft) | Available |
If children will use it unsupervised, that rules out the smallest size. Flush installation removes the fall height — leaving the mat means stepping onto your lawn — but a net does a second job it can't: keeping jumpers on the mat in the first place. On a rectangular trampoline, which produces more height than a round, that matters.
The 330 × 220cm without a net suits teenagers, adults, and families who'll supervise. For younger children, take one of the two larger sizes with the net, or look at the Ultim Champion InGround, which sits 10-20cm above the lawn and takes a net in every size.
Sizes and the space they need
Two metres of clear space on all four sides. A rectangle isn't square, so check both dimensions.
| Size | Frame | Clear space needed | Hole | Depth | Soil | Max user |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 7 × 11ft | 330 × 220cm | 7.3m × 6.2m | 330 × 220cm | 100cm | 4.5m³ | 100kg |
| 13 × 8ft | 410 × 250cm | 8.1m × 6.5m | 410 × 250cm | 95cm | 6m³ | 120kg |
| 16 × 10ft | 500 × 300cm | 9m × 7m | 500 × 300cm | 100cm | 10m³ | 120kg |
The hole matches the frame exactly — unlike an InGround installation, where you dig inside the trampoline's footprint. And it's a metre deep. The 16 × 10ft means removing around 10 cubic metres of soil, which is a job for an installer with a digger.
Measure carefully. A flush trampoline can't be moved once the pit is dug. Send us your dimensions and we'll confirm which fits before you commit.
Why rectangular
On a round trampoline the springs pull inward from every direction, so the bounce keeps returning you to the middle. Forgiving, and right for younger children.
On a rectangular frame the springs run in parallel and the energy stays roughly where you land. More height for the same effort, more control, and the whole mat is usable rather than just the centre. It's why competition trampolines are rectangular, and why gymnasts and cheerleaders train on them.
The trade-off: more power means less margin for error. This isn't the right first trampoline for a five-year-old. If the children are young and it's for general play, a round Champion costs less and suits them better.
Why flush
- It disappears. No visible frame from ground level. In a landscaped garden that's the whole argument, and it matters more with a rectangle — a 5-metre frame on legs is a substantial object.
- Zero fall height. Stepping off the mat is stepping onto the lawn.
- Nothing for the wind. A rectangular frame catches more wind than a round one of similar footprint, and above ground it must be anchored. Flush, there's no profile at all — the most stable installation BERG makes.
- Walk-on from any side. No ladder, no climbing.
Against InGround, which sits 10-20cm above the lawn: FlatGround needs a deeper pit, the full width of the frame, and demands a level site. InGround is more forgiving and takes a net in every size. Against above ground, both are permanent.
Grand, Ultim or plain Champion?
BERG's naming tells you the shape:
| Model | Shape | Suits |
|---|---|---|
| Champion | Round | Square gardens, general family use |
| Grand Champion | Oval | Gardens longer than they are wide |
| Ultim Champion | Rectangular | Serious jumpers, maximum usable mat |
All three share the Champion specification — TwinSpring springs, AirFlow Pro mat, 30mm padding, 13-year frame warranty. The difference is the outline.
Installation — the most demanding BERG offers
A metre-deep pit the full width of the frame, squared properly, level to a fine tolerance, with working drainage.
Drainage matters. Irish clay doesn't drain freely, and a metre-deep pit without drainage fills after heavy rain — at which point the frame sits in water. The perforated mat lets water through; the pit has to let it out.
Squaring matters. A round pit that's slightly off doesn't show. A rectangular frame that isn't square won't tension evenly, and correcting it means lifting the frame back out.
Level matters more here than on any other installation. A flush trampoline that isn't level looks wrong immediately.
Professional installation covers site assessment, excavation, drainage, levelling, assembly and testing. We work with installers across Ireland — tell us your county and we'll give you a name and a price. On the 16 × 10ft in particular, this is the sensible route.

Maintenance
- Weekly: clear debris, and check for standing water — your early warning on drainage
- Monthly: spring tension with attention to the corners, padding condition, drainage clear
- Seasonally: clean the mat, check the frame is still square, clear the drainage properly
- Annually: full bolt check, frame and mat stitching inspection
- Winter: clear snow, keep the drainage running through freeze-thaw
Looked after, expect 12-15 years. The wear parts are all replaceable.
Common questions
Which sizes take a safety net?
The 410 × 250cm and the 500 × 300cm. The 330 × 220cm doesn't. If a net matters to you, that decides your size — or choose the InGround version instead.
Is it safe without a net?
Fall height is effectively zero, so leaving the mat means stepping onto grass. But nothing stops a jumper going sideways off the edge, and a rectangular trampoline produces more height than a round. We'd recommend supervision for anyone under about twelve on the netless size, and we wouldn't recommend it at all for young children left to themselves.
Do I need to anchor it?
No. The pit holds the frame, and there's no profile for wind to catch. It's the most stable installation BERG makes.
Can I move it later?
No. New pit, new drainage, full disassembly. Treat it as permanent.
Can I install it on a slope?
Not realistically. A flush trampoline needs a level surface, and levelling a slope means terracing.
Can adults use it?
Yes — 100kg on the 330 × 220cm, 120kg on the larger two. The rectangular bounce and walk-on access suit adult use well. One at a time.
Will it rust in the ground?
Hot-dip galvanised inside and out with powder coating over that, and a 13-year warranty covering rust. What causes trouble isn't the steel — it's water sitting in a badly drained pit.
