Trampoline Safety Net Bungees — 8 Pack

Replacement elastic bungees for attaching a trampoline safety net to the frame. Eight per pack.

These are the small elastic loops that hold the bottom of the net to the frame or the spring pad. They perish before almost anything else on a trampoline — constant tension, constant UV, and they're the thinnest rubber on the whole structure.

When to replace them

Bungees fail gradually and then all at once. Worth checking at the start and end of each season:

• Cracking or chalky surface — the rubber has gone and it'll snap under load
• Stretched and slack — if it no longer pulls the net taut, it isn't doing its job
• Net sagging or gaping at the bottom — usually two or three failed bungees rather than a problem with the net
• Any already snapped — replace the rest at the same time, because they're the same age

A gap at the bottom of the net is the thing to act on. That's the point where a child's leg goes through between mat and net, which is exactly what the enclosure exists to prevent. It's a cheap fix and worth doing the day you notice it.

Replace the set, not the one

If one bungee has perished, the others have had identical exposure and are within weeks of the same. Replacing one at a time means going back out with the stepladder every fortnight through the summer.

Eight covers most domestic trampolines. Count your attachment points before ordering — larger frames need more.

Fitting them

No tools. Hook the bungee through the net's attachment loop and around the frame or spring pad eyelet, then stretch it to the next fixing point.

Get the tension even all the way round. A net that's tight in some places and slack in others pulls out of shape and wears unevenly at the seams.

Worth checking while you're there

If the bungees have gone, the rest of the trampoline is the same age. Have a look at the springs, the padding and the mat stitching.
