Buying a Trampoline for Christmas: Tips, and How to Keep It a Surprise

✍️ Gary and the Trampolines Ireland Team — Ireland's leading trampoline experts!

A trampoline is one of the few Christmas presents that gets used every week for years. Getting it right comes down to four things: the right size for your garden, ordering early enough, keeping it hidden, and leaving enough time to put it up.

Christmas 2026: order in-stock models by Wednesday 16 December for guaranteed delivery before Christmas. All Christmas dates →

1. Measure the garden first

The most common Christmas mistake is buying the biggest trampoline the budget allows rather than the one the garden takes. You need the frame plus 2 metres of clear space on every side. Measure your flattest clear area, then check our size guide by number of kids.

Size Space needed Suits
9ft 7m × 7m 1 child, ages 4-10
11ft 7.5m × 7.5m 2 children, ages 5-14
12.5ft 8m × 8m 3 children, ages 6-16
14ft 8.5m × 8.5m 4+ children, teens and adults

2. Buy for the next five years

Size for the oldest child and where they'll be in five years. A good trampoline lasts ten years or more, so a size that's generous now is right later. A cheap trampoline that rusts by year three isn't a saving: see how long trampolines last.

3. Order early, or reserve it

Popular sizes and colours sell through in December. If you'd rather not have the boxes in the house for weeks, the Christmas Club holds your trampoline with a €100 refundable deposit. Your returns window opens on Christmas Day, so buying early doesn't cost you return time.

4. How to hide a trampoline until Christmas morning

A trampoline arrives flat-packed in several long boxes, which is the easy part to hide. What works best:

  • Time the delivery. Order so it arrives on a school day, and ask a neighbour to take it in if you're out.
  • Store it out of sight. A garage, shed, attic or a relative's house. The boxes are long, so measure the space first.
  • Collect it yourself. In-stock models can be collected from our warehouse in Co. Monaghan by appointment, up to 12 noon on Christmas Eve.
  • Put something under the tree. A wrapped accessory, like a ladder or basketball set, or a printed photo of the trampoline, with a note to look outside.

5. Leave enough time to put it up

Allow three to five hours with two adults for most sizes, and longer for a 14ft. On a dark December evening that's a long job, so most parents put it up the day before Christmas Eve, or on Christmas Eve while it's light, rather than at midnight. Have a spring puller tool to hand, and fit the ground anchors the same day. Irish wind doesn't take Christmas off.

Prefer not to? We can recommend an independent installer.

6. Pick the right range

BERG Favorit is the value choice. Champion adds TwinSpring springs, thicker padding and the Deluxe net, and is what most Irish families choose. Elite is the top of the range. As Ireland's only Springfree stockist, we also carry the Springfree range.
