DIY SOS Waterford - Proudly Supported by Trampolines Ireland
We have been delighted to be involved with DIY SOS Ireland in their Waterford project below, but although DIY SOS Ireland is a very popular show, that does tremendous work for deserving individuals in a tiny space of time, people still wonder - what is DIY SOS Ireland?
DIY SOS Ireland is a spin-off from the original BBC series presented by Nick Knowles, and is presented in Ireland by Baz Ashmawy. The purpose of the show is to renovate and adapt homes for people who are suffering, who are going through some struggles and need help.

The DIY SOS Team, led by Baz Ashmawy and his team of Purple Shirts, will be in Waterford this November to help Laura Sheridan. After recovering from Covid, Laura was diagnosed with Stage 3 Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, a form of cancer that affects the immune system. Furthermore, her beautiful twin boys (5) have autism and because of this, they have a range of complex sensory and emotional needs.
Laura said: ‘For me to see my kids happy it wouldn't make me feel so guilty for being sick, and it would bring me some peace…’
No task is too big for Baz and the team but help is always welcome so please join us in Waterford in late November.

DIY SOS Waterford - Laura's Story
Laura Sheridan, beams with positivity, but it’s been a tough year for this young Mum, who is also an award-winning Nurse. After recovering from Covid, Laura was diagnosed with Stage 3 Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, a form of cancer that affects the immune system.
Furthermore, her beautiful twin boys (5) have autism and as a result of this, they have a range of complex sensory and emotional needs.
Laura, a Director of Nursing, who won a prestigious award as 'Nurse of the Year' is really missing the residents of the local nursing home where she works, Maypark House, but her illness has forced her to take time off to undergo aggressive cancer treatment.
Chemotherapy is taking its toll and finding time to rest and recuperate is just not an option for this devoted Mammy.
Like every mother, all Laura wants to do is to keep her children safe and happy and the DIY SOS Big Build team are here to do exactly that, by adapting Laura’s home to meet the boys’ occupational needs.
But as you all know, we can’t do it alone, so we need the good people of Waterford to help us out. Groundworkers, Ticketed Machine Drivers, Carpenters, General Labourers, Plumbers, Electricians, Slabbers, Plasterers, Joiners, Clean up Volunteers, Pavers and Landscapers, Tilers, Registration Volunteers - you name the trade, we need you there!
We also need local companies who can assist us by supplying goods and materials for external works: plant hire, grab hire, skips and waste management, scaffolding, gardening and landscaping products.
For the interiors we need joinery, shelving, furniture, wallpaper, extensive homewares, photography and frames, tiles, bedding, mirrors etc.
For Site Support we need traffic management, site security, van drivers, transport companies, containers/site storage, marquees, accommodation, and printers.
For Catering: We need to feed our hardworking volunteers so we are looking for catering companies or local restaurants to provide our daily meals. Breakfast rolls, snacks and drinks are also needed to fuel our 100+ hardworking troops.
If you'd like to get involved, please email your name, number, your trade or what you can supply to diysoswaterford@motive.ie or text or call 083 013 9827.
