Collection: Trampoline Buying Checklist for Schools
Trampolines for schools- what is right for the education sector?
There are lots of benefits of adding trampolines to schools. For one thing, they ensure children can pursue a healthy, physical education. As they bounce, children work the muscles in their bodies to help them stay in good health.
It’s a great form of cardio exercise that will help to boost their health. Not only is it good for the body, but it is also excellent for the mind. When they burn off energy by jumping on the trampoline, it can help them to control their emotions and unload. Jumping also releases endorphins to help the students feel lighter and happier during the school day.
And as well as being great for fitness, it is also a lot of fun for children. They love trampolines and will enjoy physical education if they get to exercise on the trampoline. In fact, it’s no wonder many children sign up for trampoline class after-school. So when it comes to picking the right trampolines for the education sector, here are some things for schools to consider.
Trampoline Buying Checklist for Schools
1. Age range
One of the main factors for schools to consider when choosing a trampoline for their students is the age range. They need to decide on which age range is suitable for the children that will be using the trampoline. That way, they can make a safe, well-informed decision on which trampoline is best for the kids at the school.
If the school in question that is looking for a trampoline is of primary level, they should look at trampolines that are at the very minimum 6ft which is best suited to 5-6 years old.
The best size which will take them up till they are 10 years old is between 8ft-12ft. This is best for their size and weight at this young age. Therefore, the school needs to make their decision on the age of the kids in question when deciding which trampoline to go for.
For secondary level schools, the best size trampoline is over 12ft so that it will fit the required weight of the students and will last them as they grow. As they head into the latter years of their school experience, a 14ft-16ft would be more sufficient as this will be safe and appropriate for children's reaching the latter part of their teens.
2. Shape
Another factor for schools to consider when choosing a trampoline is the shape. After all, they need to ensure it’s appropriate for the kids to jump on safely during class.
The main shapes available on the market are round, oval and square. Round is the most common trampoline available for sale but is mostly used in domestic settings.
Oval is another popular choice, especially over the past couple of decades and is good to give children more room to jump. It’s easily placed in the hall or outdoor area and allows children to bounce safely.
A rectangle shape is the most common shape which gets used for training purposes in gymnasiums and other sports centres. It’s been around for decades and was first created to be used by astronauts during their training process.
The rectangle shape is still very popular due to having a central area that produces a consistent, strong bounce every time the student hits it. It’s used for competitive gymnastics and would be a great choice for students to use at the school.
It’s a good idea for schools to have in mind the type of shape they would need before they look to purchase the trampoline.
3. Space
The other thing that needs to be considered when buying a trampoline for a school is the space that they have to use for the trampoline. After all, the school doesn’t want to make an error buying trampolines that won’t fit in the allocated area.
Therefore, it’s so important that the school measures the area firstly, so that they know how much space they have for the trampolines.
It’s worth noting that when measuring that the trampolines only can be placed in an area that is away from clutter and there is a good amount of space on either side of the trampoline. Whether you go for a 10ft, 12ft or 14ft size trampoline, ensure that it will safely fit in the school environment.
4. Skills
If the school is going to be training the students on how to use the trampoline properly, it’s worth considering how effective the trampoline is for this before purchasing.
You need to look at the trampolines to find how much of a strong bounce the trampoline would give when the student is bouncing. You want to ensure the trampoline offers a safe and accurate bounce so that they can build up their skill level.
You don’t want a trampoline that isn’t going to allow them to effectively train up to start doing tricks such as triple jumps and rolls if they do want to start getting competitive.
There are certain trampolines such as the square shape which will enable them to bounce strongly and build up their skills. It will be great for trying out skills such as somersaults. So it’s worth looking to make sure whichever trampoline you go for will work well for the students.
5. Safety
It’s very important that whichever trampoline is chosen has the appropriate safety in place to keep the students safe while bouncing. After all, their safety is paramount when using the trampoline.
Therefore, you want to ensure whichever trampoline you go for has the appropriate testing certificates. It should have an EN71, CE testing, GS and TUV. It’s vital that these are all checked before making a purchase with the trampoline.
Checking to make sure it’s an appropriate size and is in good order is also vital. It’s so important that safety checks are made regularly to keep the trampoline in a safe condition. Giving it a clean is also very important after the pupils have been using it.
That way, they will stay safe and healthy while using the trampoline.
