The BERG PlayTower Is Coming to Ireland — And We're Bringing It First
Every so often a product lands that makes you rethink a whole category. For us, the BERG PlayTower is one of those.
A BERG Play Tower with a raised platform, a slide, a ladder and a built-in sandpit — all on a frame made from round 90mm powder-coated steel tubing.

We've spent six years selling trampolines to Irish families, and in that time the most common question we've had after "which trampoline?" has been "what else can we put in the garden?" The honest answer, for a long time, was: not much that we'd want to stand over. Timber climbing frames look lovely in the brochure and then need re-treating every second spring. Cheaper steel sets rust at the joints inside three winters. Neither ages well in an Irish garden.
The PlayTower is BERG's answer to that, and we expect to be the first distributor in Ireland to offer it.
What it actually is
A play tower with a raised platform, a slide, a ladder and a built-in sandpit — all on a frame made from round 90mm powder-coated steel tubing. If you already own a BERG trampoline, that construction will be familiar: it's the same engineering thinking, the same finish, the same intolerance for the sort of corner-cutting that shows up in year four.
There are six models in the range, built around two choices. First the deck style — Air, Cabin or Lodge. Then whether you want the swing frame, which comes with four carabiner hooks and takes two accessories, so you can hang a nest swing and a set of gym rings, or a seat swing and a trapeze, and change your mind later.
Everything else is consistent across all six: the tower, the slide, the ladder, the sandpit, the frame, and the warranty.
The bit we like most
You don't need concrete.
That sounds like a small thing until you've priced a landscaper, or spent a Saturday mixing bags in a wheelbarrow while the kids ask when it'll be finished. The PlayTower's wide base does the structural work. You dig the frame in to 50cm, and the tool list is genuinely a shovel and a spirit level.
One assembly step needs four people rather than two — worth knowing before you start, and worth a phone call to whoever owes you a favour.
Built to still be there in ten years
BERG give a 10-year warranty on the PlayTower frame as standard, which extends to 13 years if you register the product online after purchase. Registration is free and takes a couple of minutes.
Thirteen years is longer than most children will use it. That's rather the point — a garden play set that outlasts the childhood it was bought for is one you can hand on, sell on, or leave standing for the next set of grandchildren.
Will it fit your garden?
This is the question worth answering before you fall in love with a model.
A PlayTower on its own needs roughly 165 × 280 cm of installed space. Add the swing frame and that goes to roughly 435 × 280 cm, because the swing arm extends out to one side and needs clearance around it.
So the swing frame roughly doubles the width you need to set aside. For plenty of Irish gardens that's no obstacle at all. For others it's the difference between a tower that fits neatly beside the patio and one that dominates the whole lawn. Measure first.
The sandpit comes with a cover, though not with sand — allow about 200kg to fill it properly, which your local builders' merchant will sort out for a fraction of what a garden centre would charge.
Why it looks different to everything else out there
Black steel frame. Bamboo and plastic detailing. Colour-matched accessories.
It reads as garden architecture rather than primary-coloured plastic, and if the play area is visible from your kitchen window — which, in most Irish gardens, it is — that matters more than people expect it to. This is a climbing frame you can put in a garden you've spent money on without wincing.
