Collection: Your Summer Trampoline Maintenance Guide
How to keep your trampoline in good condition during the summer months
The summer is the perfect time for your kids to get outside and have fun on the trampoline. They can have hours of jumping in the sunshine and can play on the trampoline until later on with light evenings to enjoy.
However, while your children will love to get outside during the summer months, there are a few things you need to consider during these hot months.
After all, the hot weather and excessive use can leave your trampoline in a poor condition. Therefore, here is how to keep your trampoline in good condition during the summer months.
Place it in good shade
One thing you should do during the summer months is to place the trampoline in an area that is shaded in your garden. You want to ensure it’s in an area that has the most shade during those hottest periods of the day which is generally around 12-2.
For one thing, this will ensure it’s safe and not too hot when your kids are playing on the trampoline. You don’t want the mat to get very hot when they are trying to bounce during those warm summer days.
Moreover, placing the trampoline in a shaded area of the garden will help protect it from those hot UV rays. You might not realise but UV rays can damage the trampoline. Exposure to UV light can cause damage to the mat over a period and even the colour can fade in the light.
Whether you place it near a tree (just ensure the kids can’t reach the branches) or under a shaded area near your property, the shade will help to keep the trampoline in good condition. And you will be able to let the kids bounce away for much longer when they are safely in the shade during the summer.
Of course, you must make sure that you have good clearnce from any shade-giving trees so that no one ends up in the tree.

Water the trampoline mat
As we said above, the mat is particularly vulnerable to UV rays during hot weather. While a lot of the models are built with UV protection, they still have a chance of being exposed to hot weather which can cause the mat to dry out. When this happens, there is a chance of mould growing on the trampoline.
Therefore, to ensure your trampoline stays in tip-top condition during the summer months, it’s worth giving it a water after a long, hot day. Spray the mat with some water (you could use an old cleaning bottle and fill this with water) and it will ensure the mat stays mould-free.
Also, the UV rays can cause the mat to get harder over time. Therefore, spraying it with water can soften the mat. Just ensure you dry it off before the kids use it again so they don’t end up slipping when bouncing on the trampoline.
Clean the trampoline regularly
A lot of people don’t realise how important it is to clean their trampoline regularly. But it’s so important to do this all-year round. In summer, you need to keep on top of this because it’s so easy for things to dry in the sun. Therefore, that drink or ice cream that your child spilt on the trampoline could soon become a permanent mark.
The moisture on the trampoline also will waken the materials and you may find the trampoline discolours. Therefore, you need to make sure you clean it regularly after a busy days use. You can just use soapy water to give the trampoline a clean.
Also, make sure it’s clean of any debris, leaves or twigs that might have fallen onto the trampoline. You don’t want them to get stuck in the net and then cause holes when you try to remove them. Keep your trampoline clutter-free so that you don’t cause any damage to the equipment.
Invest in a cover
Another thing you can do to protect your trampoline during the summer months is to place a cover over it when not in use. For one thing, this will ensure it stays in good condition during the hot weather as the UV rays can damage the trampoline mat.
You can then just remove the cover when the kids decide they want to use the trampoline. You can also ensure nothing gets on the trampoline when you have a cover. Whether that is any falling debris or if there is a downpour in the middle of summer, the cover will keep your trampoline in good condition.
Also, if you invest in a cover now during the summer, you can use it during the autumn and winter months when there are more risks of damage to your trampoline. So you will be able to make use of the cover all-year round.
This will also stop wildlife who might decide to venture towards the trampoline to make a home. They won’t be able to get to the trampoline if it’s covered up when not in use during the evenings.

Look into anchor weights
A lot of people don’t consider anchoring down their trampoline during the summer months. After all, they think the sunny weather means they don’t have to worry about their trampoline moving. But even in the summer months, it’s a good idea to protect your trampoline so that it can’t move when the kids aren’t using it.
After the hot weather, there tend to be some storms which could lead to your trampoline flying into the fence or even into the neighbours garden. Then it can cause damage to the trampoline. Therefore, be prepared to anchor it down so that if a spell of bad weather does come around, your trampoline is safe and secure even in the summer months.
And remember to ensure your children are protected before hitting the trampoline in the hot weather. A sun hat, sun cream and a drink nearby are essential during the summer months. That way, they can stay protected from the UV rays when using the trampoline and can stay hydrated after use too.
