BERG BFR XL Go Kart Range — FAQ

1. What does “BFR XL” mean?

  • BFR stands for Brake – Freewheel – Reverse. That means the kart has a pedal‐operated brake (you pedal backwards to stop), a freewheel so you can coast without pedalling when going downhill, and the ability to reverse once stationary.

  • XL refers to the size of the frame. The XL platform is for older kids (roughly age 5 and up) through to adults. The XL frame has multiple adjustable seat positions so the kart “grows” with the rider.

2. What are the age, height, and weight suitability for BFR XL?

  • Recommended age is 5 years and up

  • Height range: typically from around 125 cm up to adult height (≈190 cm), depending on specific model and seat adjustment.

  • Maximum user weight is generally 100 kg for most XL BFR models.

3. What are the key features of the XL BFR go karts?

  • Adjustable Seat Positions: The seat can be moved forward/backwards to accommodate different leg lengths, allowing the kart to be used for several years.

  • Pneumatic tyres for comfort, grip, and smoother ride.

  • Swing Axle / Independent Front Suspension: Helps keep all four wheels in contact with uneven terrain, improving stability and safety.

  • Freewheel option: So you don’t have to pedal when coasting downhill.

  • Strong frame + long life build quality: Steel frame, durable finish, quality bearings.

  • Seat and driving comfort accessories: Depending on model, rear mudguards, comfort seat, etc.

4. What is the “Passenger Seat” accessory? Is it included in the special offer?

  • The passenger seat is a fitting that attaches behind the driver’s seat on XL models so a second rider (up to 30 kg) can join. It has armrests and footrests for comfort.

  • Restrictions: The passenger seat cannot be used if the kart has a rollbar installed. Also, only XL platform models are compatible with the passenger seat.

  • This Christmas special at Trampolines Ireland offers a free passenger seat (nominal value about €105) with every XL BFR go kart. It allows the buyer to upgrade the go kart from single to tandem passenger capability without extra cost. (Assuming the kart is an XL model and meets the compatibility requirements.)

5. Is the passenger seat safe? What is the maximum load?

  • The maximum load capacity for the passenger seat is 30 kg

  • It includes armrests and footrests so the passenger has support.

  • Ensuring it’s properly mounted and frame is compatible (i.e. no rollbar interfering) is crucial for safety.

6. Do all XL BFR models accept the passenger seat?

  • Yes, all XL platform models are designed to allow the passenger seat, unless a rollbar is already installed.

  • Models that have rollbars or other special structures may block or interfere with the mounting. Always check the specific model for rollbar compatibility.

7. What are the differences among XL BFR, XL BFR-3, and XXL BFR?

  • XL BFR: standard drive, no gears; brake, freewheel, reverse. Good for general use, flat or moderate terrain.

  • XL BFR-3: includes 3 gears (hub gears) which help for hills or more challenging terrain. They allow more versatility in pedalling effort.

  • XXL Frame: larger, reinforced frame with extra seat positions (more room, longer leg stretches), for taller riders/adult use.

8. What are common accessories and optional extras?

  • The passenger seat as discussed.

  • Trailers (XL trailers) for carrying loads or for play.

  • Mudguards, lights, flags, speedometers, mirrors etc. to customise look and visibility.

  • Comfort seats or seat upgrades for longer rides.

  • Rollbars (though note: rollbar prevents the passenger seat use).

  • Spare parts such as tyres, chains, bearings are available for maintenance.

9. What warranty comes with a BERG XL BFR go kart?

  • Most XL BFR models come with a 2 year guarantee on frame and other parts.

  • Some dealers (or BERG itself) may offer options for extended warranties or registration for longer cover. Always check with your retailer.

10. How easy is assembly and maintenance?

  • Assembly is required; XL models arrive partly assembled; wheels, seat, steering, etc. need installing. Tools are typically basic (spanners, etc.).

  • The design is modular: many components are replaceable if worn (tyres, bearings, chain, mudguards).

11. What is the value of the Christmas special at Trampolines Ireland?

  • The free passenger seat offered is valued at approximately €105. This is normally a separately sold accessory.

  • The offer applies when you purchase an XL BFR go kart during the special period.

12. Can adults ride the XL BFR kart, especially with a passenger?

  • Yes, many XL models have maximum user weight of 100 kg. As long as the combined weight of driver + passenger remains within safe limits (kart + rider spec), it is designed to accommodate teens or adults.

  • Seat position adjustment and correct tyre pressure etc. help maintain comfort and performance.

13. What terrains are suitable / unsuitable?

  • Good for: Gardens, driveways, pavements, estate roads, light off-road (gravel, firm dirt) — especially farm-models with chunky tyres.

  • Less suitable: Very muddy/soggy fields (could damage bearings, chain), very steep hills without gearing (XL BFR-3 or electric assist better for steep inclines).

14. Are there safety standards / certifications?

  • XL BFR karts meet CE standards for safety.

  • Recommended to have adult supervision especially for younger riders (under age 12) or when using in public or semi-public places.

15. How does Trampolines Ireland support after the sale?

  • Genuine BERG spare parts for maintenance (tyres, seats, bearings etc.).

  • Advice on usage, adjustments, correct tyre pressure, chain lubrication etc.

  • Warranty handling and support on issues.

  • Often assistance or guidance in setup.

16. What should a customer check before buying?

  • Confirm model is XL frame and check seat adjustability.

  • Check whether rollbar is installed (if passenger seat is important).

  • Confirm weight limits (driver, passenger, combined).

  • Confirm delivery cost & assembly options.

  • Check stock availability — with seasonal demand (especially during Christmas), popular models may sell out quickly.
