Autism NI Glow Walk Lights Up Stormont Estate, Belfast

Stormont Estate was a vibrant sea of light and color as hundreds of families gathered for Autism NI’s largest Glow Walk event to date. The night was filled with excitement, camaraderie, and a shared commitment to promoting autism awareness and acceptance.

Families kicked off the evening with an energetic dance warm-up led by Fitness Freddy, followed by games and entertainment from the U105 crew and Denise Watson. The highlight of the evening was a captivating ‘glow in the dark’ walk, with participants donning neon gear and glow sticks to light up the estate.

A Record-Breaking Event

Speaking about the event’s success, Autism NI CEO Kerry Boyd said:
"It was incredible to see such an amazing turnout for our biggest Glow Walk yet. Over one thousand people joined us to shine a bright light on autism acceptance within the community. Families embraced the theme with fantastic neon outfits, showing their support for this vital cause."

The Glow Walk is a key fundraising event for Autism NI, helping the organization deliver life-changing services. All funds raised will support Autism NI’s Helpline service, which provides assistance to over 7,500 people across Northern Ireland annually.

A Family’s Perspective

Among the families attending were the McBrides from Bangor. Rebecca McBride shared her thoughts on the importance of the event, saying:
"Our son Isaac is the kindest, smartest boy, but not everyone understands him. The Glow Walk gave us a chance to remind the world that being different is beautiful. Autism NI’s helpline and resources have been invaluable in helping us support Isaac the way he deserves."

A Community United

The Glow Walk demonstrated the power of community and the importance of fostering an inclusive society for autistic individuals and their families. With the support of events like this, Autism NI continues to campaign for greater awareness and provide essential resources to thousands.
