How to Disassemble & Move A Trampoline - Step By Step Guide

Trampolines are fantastic exercise for the kids and for most families they will be one of the best outdoor toy investments that you will but they are pretty large, and sometimes you will need to move or disassemble them.

Start by taking down the safety net, making sure to carefully note how the safety net gets attached to the trampoline. Set aside the components to be packed. Undo the padding around the jump mat and store that, finally moving on to the springs, jump mat and trampoline frame.

Reasons to Disassemble or Move A Trampoline

1. Moving Home

If you're moving home then its obvious that the trampoline will need to come apart in its entirety to be moved and set up in your new home.

When doing this its important to really pay attention to how everything fits together and comes apart, as it may be some time before you rebuild it, as its likely that you will have lots of other tasks to do as well.

Make sure to pack everything very well so that nothing gets lost of damaged in transit and keep related parts packed together as much as you can so it will be easier for you to figure out when you begin to re-asssemble.

2. Moving Location in Your Garden

Typical Reasons for Moving the Trampoline Around Garden Include -

  • to catch more sun,
  • to catch less sun,
  • to free up space
  • to move closer to or further from the house
  • for a new access or entrance into the garden and so on

If you're moving from one side of the garden to another then the trampoline can  often be slid across the garden by a few adults.

In this scenario, you would simply take up the trampoline anchors if you are using anchors, remove the ladder and carefully slide the trampoline across into its new location.

When the trampoline has been secured in its new location we recommend checking the safety net, poles, trampoline legs, frame, springs, jump mat and padding to make sure that nothing has came loose or been dislodged during the short move.

After that you're good to go, and this move usually takes 5 to 10 minutes max.

3. Moving from the Back to the Front or Vice Versa

For some people this move can be a bit more tricky. If you need to to move the trampoline through a narrow driveway or entry then as the trampoline will often be very wide, then the trampoline frame will need to be disassembled.

To do so please follow the steps below.

4. Giving The Trampoline Away Perhaps to A Family Member

When you buy a high-quality trampoline they last for a long time and as your children get older and head off to college or get a job, you might decide to gift your trampoline to a family member, friend or neighbour with younger kids.

Simply follow the tips below for moving your trampoline.

How to Disassemble & Move A Trampoline

 1. Have Large Boxes to Hand

If you're moving home for example, perhaps the end that you might have in mind is for you to arrive at your new home and to be able to easily and effortlessly re-assemble the trampoline with no parts missing or damaged, and to have a clear understanding of how to re-assemble the trampoline.

In doing this you will need to be organised and to really pay attention to the disassembly process.

2. Clear A Space Next to the Trampoline to Lay Everything Out

We suggest beginning by clearing a large space close to the trampoline where you can lay everything out as you remove components.

3. Start with the Net

The trampoline net is often installed across the jump mat so to make life easy we recommend starting by removing the trampoline safety enclosure first.

Pay attention to how the net attaches to the trampoline both at the top of the trampoline safety net enclosure poles and at the bottom where the safety net meets the jump mat.

Taking a few minutes to note how the safety attaches and noticing which parts are used, and where they are used will really pay dividends when it comes to the reassembly process.

When the net has been removed, make sure that is dry and then fold and pack in a cardboard box. Additionally you can seal that box with tape and mark "Trampoline Safety Net" so the box doesn't get lost.

4. Removing the Trampoline Padding

Take care when removing the trampoline padding not to rip or tear either the padding or the straps and bungees used to secure the padding to the trampoline frame.

Again once you have removed the padding we recommend making sure that the padding is dry and then folding and packing in a cardboard box, sealing that box with tape and marking "Trampoline Padding."

5. Detach the Trampoline Springs from the Jump Mat

Using the Spring Tension Tool or Spring Puller supplied with your trampoline purchase we recommend carefully removing the springs that connect the jump mat to the trampoline frame.

It is important to do this carefully to avoid injury to your person or anyone else, and we suggest wearing gloves and safety goggles.

Once the springs have been removed make sure that they are dry and pack in a cardbox box, seal with tape and mark this - "Trampoline Springs."

In removing the trampoline springs, the jump mat will now be detached from the trampoline frame, so once you check that this is dry you can fold and pack in a cardboard bow, seal with tape and mark - "Trampoline Jump Mat."

6. Remove the Trampoline Anchors

The last thing left to do now is to begin to disassemble the trampoline frame.

To do this, if you have your trampoline secured with trampoline anchors, they will need to be removed first.

7. Take Apart the Trampoline Frame

Normally the best way to do this is to flip the trampoline frame over and to rest on the ground to remove the trampoline legs. Once the trampoline frame legs have been removed disassembling the parts of the frame will be very straightforward.

Once this has been achieved we recommend drying the frame and packing it in cardboard boxes, sealing those boxes and marking them "Trampoline Frame."
